This shoot is with Joy and her service dog, Jack, who are both graduating from the University of Utah. While Joy was getting her bachelor’s degree in chemistry she was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor the size of a tennis ball. After surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy she was able to return to class and Jack was (and continues to be) by her side 100% of the time. Jack can sense if Joy is going to have a seizure and he can warn her beforehand, giving her enough time to call 911 before it happens. At her photo shoot Joy said that she wanted photos not only because she’s graduating, but because she’s alive.
